God’s original intent was that we experience the oneness relationship known throughout eternity by the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit within the trinity. He created individuals, but purposed to make them one, as He is one. But the fall into sin described in Genesis disrupted God’s design. We were meant to live a life of absolute abundance.
The fall separated us from God, but Jesus restores
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
— John 17:20-21
Sin separates us from one another, but Jesus makes us one.
“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation.“
— Ephesians 2:14
In Christ, we are ministers of reconciliation.
“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.“
— 2 Corinthians 5:20
