“For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

— The Apostle Peter

The first step in connecting with God is salvation. Perhaps you’re wondering, “Why is that even necessary? Aren’t we all connected to God?” Great question!

The Bible begins with a problem. Not immediately, but within the first few pages it is revealed that humanity is now separated from God by sin. Although we try by religious effort to reconnect with the divine, all such endeavor is vain. As the Apostle Peter pointed out, there is no other name, given among men, whereby we must be saved.

In the New Testament Book of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul clarifies the dilemma.

You… were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

The human condition is serious. We are all dead by sin and appointing a day of justice and wrath. But the bad news leads to the greatest news… the Gospel.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, made possible by the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. We at Cross Connection want you to know and grow in that grace by connecting with God through salvation.
